Bought out of Ireland by Richard Venn having won two point to points and running well in good bumpers the previous year. Pairc Na Gcapall looked impressive in the manner in which he jumped and quickened to win his second point. He is the most lovely horse to train and is always the first to hummer over the door as I walk out of the house to feed in the mornings.
I probably made the most awful job of training him at the start of last year - running on the wrong ground and giving Alex the wrong instructions. Because he is always so keen and shows so much speed at home, I thought it would be best to hold him up and try to teach him to settle and then use his turn of foot at the end, but by the end of the season on faster ground he enjoyed skipping along in front and won two chases at Huntingdon very impressively. |
