Russian Flag thrilled me yesterday with his improving performance at Warwick. Alex gave him the most superb ride to win the 2mile chase. This race had been the plan since his excellent 2nd at Plumpton on his seasonal debut. Alex told me 2 days before that there would be plenty of pace in the race, so we decided to change tactics and hold him up far more than usual - my parting words to him in the paddock were to ride him into the straight like a non-trier and produce him as late as possible - he carried it out so well I thought jumping the last we would be second !!!
I shall now look for a bigger prize over the festive period for him and I cant wait ! |
